The St. Julian Story
St. Julian Winery and Distillery has over 100 years of history behind it. It all started in 1921 when Italian immigrant Mariano Meconi founded The Border City Winery in Ontario, Canada. He later moved to Detroit and renamed his business Meconi Wine Company, then Italian Wine Co. The final name change came in 1941, when Meconi decided to name the business after the patron saint of his hometown – St. Julian.
St. Julian has locations throughout Michigan, with its base being the heart of Michigan wine country in Paw Paw. Although the company has expanded over the years and now offers distilled spirits, ciders, and every type of internationally recognized wine, it’s still run by the same family and has been for four generations. St. Julian is dedicated to only using fruit from local Michigan farms and has become the most-awarded winery in the state.
Wine Club and Store
St. Julian has a wine club with some generous perks — it’s free to join and comes with complimentary tastings, discounts, and customized wine selections just for you. You can reap the full benefits of the wine club by stopping by one of the tasting rooms in person, including the Troy location. The tasting room and retail store are open for all wine lovers, but they don’t just have wine. You can also get hard cider by the glass, cocktails made with St. Julian’s spirits, and even slushies. Of course, you can also find all your favorite St. Julian wine and spirits for sale by the bottle at the Troy store. You really do need to stop by for one of the most relaxing spots in Troy, MI.
Plan Your Visit
The St. Julian Winery and Distillery Troy location is at 518 W 14 Mile Rd, Troy, MI 48083. It’s open Monday-Thursday from noon to 8:00 pm, on Friday and Saturday from noon to 9:00 pm, and on Sunday from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. You can show up for a tasting without making a reservation unless you have a group of eight or more. It costs $10 for one flight of six one-ounce pours — unless you’re a wine club member, then you get one complimentary tasting. You’re allowed to choose the wines, spirits, or ciders in your flight as well.
