The Story of Firefighters Park in Troy

Firefighters Park has a charming history. It was first suggested to the city of Troy by the Troy Fire Women’s Auxiliary. The women’s group was started in 1977 to provide water, coffee, and donuts to firefighters at the scene of a fire, if requested, and to supply emergency food, shelter, and clothing to fire victims. The Auxiliary also raised funds for burn clinics and to run camps and educational programs about fire safety. One of the members proposed naming a park for the firefighters and planting trees in the park as memorials for deceased firefighters.

Firefighters Park covers an expansive 96 acres with plenty of recreational facilities. Sportslovers can use the baseball/softball diamond, 18-hole frisbee disc golf course, soccer fields, football field and practice area, or sand volleyball courts.
