They formed a committee and began fundraising and working on a constitution for a new organization. The group managed to raise $140,000 for the construction of a temple on an 18-acre lot in Troy, where the temple still stands today. Ground finally broke on the temple in 1980, when sufficient funds had been raised and formal inauguration took place in 1981.
